Preliminary Cluster Assessment for Setting up of Bottling Plants

Location: Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu

Project Description: The objective of the project was to assess the field level situation of various dynamic and static parameters as a support to establish green field locations for establishing bottling plants. The proposed locations would include vacant cluster of land parcels around Chennai (Tamilnadu), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) and Mumbai (Maharashtra) cities in India. The envisaged study would help the company in understanding four licenses namely natural, physical, regulatory and social/emotional. These licensees would be evaluated to arrive at a suitable cluster around each city. The scope of work included:

  • Assimilation and analysis of secondary data on Geographical, Environmental and Socio-Economic components
  • Preliminary screening of “safe assessment units” as defined by Central Ground Water Board and finalizing blocks for Detailed Survey
  • Cluster Assessment Survey – Physical & Socio-Economic Aspects
  • Evaluation of sites and Preparation of Screening Matrix
The “safe assessment units” classified by the Central Groundwater Board (CGWB) were used as a basis for identifying the clusters. Taking these safe units as a lead, a preliminary cluster assessment survey in the selected States has been undertaken. A Comprehensive Methodology for Assessment was designed by the Company using the Weighted-Average Method. Detailed questionnaire-based field surveys were carried out across 6 districts around Chennai, 3 districts around Hyderabad and 5 districts around Mumbai.
